He is best known for the publication of his compiled commentaries and aphorisms about the life of the Samurai under the title of Hagakure , a word that can be translated as either In the shadow the Leaves or The Hidden Leaves . Living and dying with bravery and honor is at the heart of Hagakure, a series of texts written by an eighteenth-century samurai, Yamamoto Tsunetomo.It is a window into the samurai mind, illuminating the concept of bushido (the Way of the Warrior), which dictated how samurai were expected to behave, conduct themselves, live, and die. Yamamoto Tsunetomo (山本 常朝), also read Yamamoto Jōchō (June 11, 1659 – November 30, 1719), was a samurai of the Saga Domain in Hizen Province under his lord Nabeshima Mitsushige. There may be a reason why Japan was able to rebuild their country so quickly after World War II, this reason is Bushido, the principles of the samurai. However, this modern-day Samurai warrior was also a great advocate of life and believed that one’s character and physique should be developed to the fullest possible extent.
